Pretty in Pink

There are newer, shinier hotels along Waikiki Beach, but none rival the history and glamour of the Royal Hawaiian, where I recently stayed during the fledgling Honolulu Fashion Week. The Pink Palace has been updated since the days when the families Rockefeller, Roosevelt, and Getty barefooted its combed beach, but the hotel’s eccentric flourishes are still recognizable—just how you’d expect a grand old lady to age. I was rained in practically the entire time I was there, but it was hardly a hardship.
