Rosalía Is the Latest Face of MAC Viva Glam
The Spanish singer, songwriter, and record producer joins a coterie of musicians known for their individuality—including Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott.
“Beauty can be expressed and conceived in so many ways,” Rosalía, the Spanish singing sensation who’s been dubbed “the future of global pop music,” said. “Beauty is being connected with who you really are and what your path is. There’s nothing more beautiful, attractive and inspiring to me than that.”
The singer, songwriter and record producer—whose music is influenced by a singular mix of flamenco, hip-hop, R&B, electronic beats, and a hefty dose of feminism—has been tapped by MAC to be its newest Viva Glam brand ambassador and the face of VG26, the cosmetic brand’s latest limited-edition iteration of its iconic lipstick.
Rosalía, who hails from Sant Esteve Sesrovires, a trucking town just outside of Barcelona, worked with the makeup label to create a saturated, matte orange-red that encapsulates the essence of her restyled Andalusian roots. The new lipstick commemorates the brand’s 26th year of its charitable initiative—100% of its retail price will go toward supporting HIV/AIDS groups, LGBTQ+ communities and help raise awareness about the health and rights of women and girls.
The campaign images feature the Catalan artist in full flamenco flair—a fiery red lip paired with a scarlet ruffly dress—accented by her signature long talons.
The Grammy-Award winning artist joins a coterie of well-established musicians known for their individuality, standout creativity and formidable stage presence as well as their strong point of view regarding female empowerment. “I look up to and admire past Viva Glam spokespeople like Lil’ Kim and Missy Elliott. For me, it is always about strength,” Rosalía said. “My mom, sister, and grandma are very important to me. I always try to find that strength and power when I perform on stage. I project myself and hope to inspire other women, too.”
Since the inception of its charitable campaign in 1994, MAC has raised over $500 million dollars toward the global fight against HIV/AIDS, with $10 million this year earmarked for organizations around the world serving those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
MAC Viva Glam VG26 launches September 24th on maccosmetics.com and at select MAC boutiques.
