Oscars 2017: Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps Hit the Red Carpet at the Academy Awards

Michelle Williams and Busy Philipps’ friendship goes way back. The actresses both starred on Dawson’s Creek together, and have stayed close throughout the years.

Philipps has been by Williams’ side throughout the press tour for Manchester By the Sea, so it only makes sense that they attended the 2017 Academy Awards hand in hand. At a screening of the film in December of 2016, Williams explained: ”She’s proof that the love of your life does not have to be a man!,” she said. ”That’s the love of my life right there.”

Shortly after, Williams brought Philipps to the 22nd annual Critics’ Choice Awards, which Philipps later joked about on Instagram in a bathroom selfie, writing, ”Michelle and I like this picture of ourselves in a porta potty better than any red carpet pics we saw. So here you go.”

A few weeks later, the pair attended the Golden Globes, where Philipps shared her admiration for Williams: “You know how you have best friends but then you have that best, best, best friend, that’s her,” she told People.

Most recently, the pair made a joint appearance at the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, where they wore coordinating, sequined dresses.

Given their history, it’s only fitting that Williams opted to wrap up awards show season alongside Philipps—setting a new bar for celebrity and non-celebrity friendships alike.
