Nicole Kidman Made Other Plans During the Big Little Lies Finale
The actress accompanied husband Keith Urban to the annual Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas while everyone else was captivated by her on-screen work.
Actress Nicole Kidman, star of Big Little Lies, was not among the millions watching the Big Little Lies finale Sunday night. Instead, she appeared among the star-studded crowd at the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday evening, observing the whole affair from the front row along with husband Keith Urban, the country music singer and himself the winner of countless ACM awards. This year, Urban was up for several more prizes, including Entertainer of the Year, and he took to the stage to perform no fewer than three of his own songs, including a duet with fellow country music darling Carrie Underwood.
Amid all the glitter on the ACM Awards red carpet — country musicians tending to be known for their fondness for bold statements — Kidman presented an elegant alternative in Alexander McQueen. Though one writer described Kidman’s Big Little Lies character Celeste’s wardrobe as “haute stay-at-home mom,” Kidman proves that she’s definitely not her on-screen character. (Even though part of why Kidman is so captivating on screen is her ability to disappear entirely into her character.)
Who: Nicole Kidman.
When: Sunday, April 2 — the night of the Big Little Lies finale.
Where: The Academy of Country Music Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada.
What: A tulle dress by Alexander McQueen from the Fall 2017 collection, embroidered with various plants and animals and a silver lattice pattern with statement drop earrings.
Why: In any other crowd, Kidman’s look might be quite the statement, but among the attendees and honorees at the ACM Awards, she comes across as quite subtle. She’s favored Alexander McQueen lately, wearing Sarah Burton’s designs to the 2016 Met Gala, the 2017 Golden Globes, and even last year’s ACM Awards. And with good reason: Just like Kidman can disappear into a character, she can also be utterly transformed by the elaborate red carpet choices she makes.
At 49, actress Nicole Kidman is still quite impressionable:
