Golden Globes 2017: Natalie Portman Effortlessly Channeled Jackie O.
Natalie Portman has been receiving high praise for her portrayal of Jacqueline Kennedy in the film Jackie, so it’s no surprise the actress arrived to the 2017 Golden Globes channeling the former first lady.
A pregnant Portman donned a long-sleeved yellow Prada gown, embellished with sequins, on the red carpet. The retro tailoring and her bouffant hair was reminiscent of Kennedy Onassis’ elegant and minimalist evening wear. Several people compared the actress, who was nominated Sunday night for Best Actress in a Motion Picture—Drama, to the idolized first lady, who once donned a similar long-sleeved canary dress. Portman’s stylist, Kate Young, did not confirm if Portman was attempting to copy Jackie O’s iconic ’60s style, but based on the similarities we’re sure the actress was using her film’s muse as a fashion muse.
Even her jewelry for the evening was a nod to the past. The actress wore $135,000 fringe earrings from Tiffany & Co., a $100,000 ring a platinum and diamond bracelet from 1910, US Weekly reports.
Natalie Portman is predicted to garner Oscar nods for her work in the biopic, so this shouldn’t be the last time you spot the actress in a vintage look on the red carpet.
While Portman’s look was a standout on the carpet, she was not alone in her choice to wear bright yellow. It was undoubtedly the color of the evening, also being worn by Maisie Williams and Viola Davis, among others.
