Marion Cotillard Is Making Pirate Chic a Thing for ‘Assassin’s Creed’
Over the past three months, we’ve regularly celebrated Marion Cotillard’s occasionally kooky, always on-point pregnancy style. She and stylist Eliott Bliss have played with various designers, silhouettes, and textures, from Dior to Rochas and back to Marques’Almeida — proving Ciara’s mantra, that pregnancy style is only easier the second time around, so, so true. She’s stepped up her game yet again for Assassin’s Creed, her upcoming film based on the video game of the same name co-starring Michael Fassbender. She landed in Madrid for the latest event rolling out the movie, a photocall alongside Fassbender, where she debuted a new blunt-cut fringe and a new pirate-chic look to dress up her growing baby bump.
Who: Marion Cotillard.
When: Wednesday, December 7.
Where: The photocall for her new film, Assassin’s Creed, with Michael Fassbender and Jeremy Irons, in Madrid, Spain.
What: A white blouse by Area NYC, black jeans by J Brand, earrings by Maria Black, and black, white, and red woven-strap heeled sandals by Proenza Schouler.
Why: CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk of Area NYC are quietly making some of the most versatile looks around — Bella Hadid recently sported one of their denim minidresses with a luxe Francesco Scognamiglio fur coat for a Paris outing after the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, while here, pregnant movie star Marion Cotillard incorporates one of their billowing, pirate-inspired blouses into a look for her most recent photocall in support of Assassin’s Creed. The oversized top with its bubble hem, paired with skinny black pants, works magic disguising her burgeoning pregnancy. (Plus, with wide, spliced cuffs, it’s practically got wings.) A bright red lip adds a pop of color and coordinates with the red detailing on her Proenza Schouler heels, mod little sandals that cap off the nautical aesthetic of her look with a few wavy lines.
