Kanye West May Show Yeezy Season 5 at New York Fashion Week in February
Kanye West may be resting, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t hard at work on new things.
Despite everything that Kanye West has gone through in the past few months, the producer-turned-musician-turned-designer is apparently not going to miss a season of showing his Yeezy line at New York Fashion Week.
According to reports, not only does West have Yeezy Season 5 in the works for February’s fashion month, he’s also working on completely new and different line as well.
“He sounded great,” an anonymous source told Page Six. “He said he was trying to put less stuff on his schedule and be a little bit more restful. He’s scheduling less meetings and he said he was feeling much better.”
Yeezy Season 4 Requested “Multiracial Women Only” At His Open Casting Call. Here’s Who Attended
Yeezy Season 4 was largely panned. West waited to announce details of the show until the last minute. Fashion insiders weren’t pleased when they had to be bused to New York’s Roosevelt Island at the last minute, and then wait for hours in the sun just to view the collection. The clothing that was presented didn’t seem to make up for it either. It didn’t help that some of the models literally fainted and stumbled throughout the show.
Since that showing, West, of course, was hospitalized for exhaustion. His wife, Kim Kardashian, was also robbed at gunpoint during Paris Fashion Week.
Nobody would have blamed West for taking a season off to perhaps reassess his fashion endeavors as well as to take some time for some self-care, but “break” doesn’t seem to be in the hyper-prolific and ever ambitious West’s vocabulary. He may have canceled the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour and taking less meetings, but he’s still at work on something.
Of course, there’s no word on when or where exactly Yeezy Season 5 will debut, which isn’t a surprise giving the last-minute nature of Seasons 1 through 4. No one knows whether the presentation will be as ambitious as his last few, as well, or whether or not West’s frequent collaborator, the performance artist Vanessa Beecroft, will be involved.
Though the Page Six report drops the bomb that West may be developing yet another line, it doesn’t include many details. The smart money may be on a more affordable line, but who knows?
