Jessica Chastain Brings Back Giles Deacon

The designer took a pause from ready-to-wear to focus on couture, but with The Huntsman press tour, his daring designs are back.

Jessica Chastain

Who: Jessica Chastain.

When: Thursday, April 7.

Where: A press conference for her new film The Hunstman: Winter’s War in Beijing, China.

What: A tea-length mottled grey and black Giles Deacon dress from the Spring 2016 collection with platform heels.

Why: Earlier this year, British designer Giles Deacon announced he’d been accepted into the hallowed halls of Paris Couture Week beginning Fall 2016. Kerry Washington and Cate Blanchett have been known to favor his designs on the red carpet, and though Deacon took time off from ready-to-wear this year to focus on his couture debut, Chastain’s Huntsman look, pulled from his last ready-to-wear collection, seems a reminder he’s still here — and, with the dress’s spiky, snow-queen silhouette and sculptural, pleated appearance, his designs are as ready to make a statement as ever.
