Bedazzling is back in a big way thanks to the current ’80s revival in fashion, and Rihanna, Kendall Jenner, and Bella Hadid are all on board. Lately, they’ve been flaunting the same enormous rhinestone hoop earrings from the emerging New York-based brand Area, which made its runway debut at New York Fashion Week this season. And seeing that these women are the holy trinity for any trend, if these shimmering accessories aren’t already all over your Instagram feed—they’re about to be.

Hadid has been a longtime fan of the brand, and was first spotted wearing an Area silk tube dress to a pre-party last year preceding the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala. She’s since fallen in love with their mini dresses and diamond-studded bustiers, most recently stepping out in a Fall 2017 red peacoat with a silver heart button at Paris Fashion Week (sans pants).

Kim Kardashian also sported Area’s fuzzy faux fur bra with Swarovski diamond straps in a spread Petra Collins shot for Wonderland magazine last September. And Rihanna wears the now-ubiquitous square rhinestone hoops in her Paper magazine March cover spread.

If there’s one thing all of these looks have in common, it’s the collision of Studio 54 nightlife glam with Aughts kitsch à la Paris Hilton. And Area co-designers Piotrek Panszczyk and Beckett Fogg are making a name for themselves by perfecting this vibe.

Back in February, when W magazine spoke with the designers before their runway debut, they explained: “We’re playing with the boundaries between glamorous and trashy.” Their studio is filled with enough glitter and diamonds to outfit an army of models, and this season they showed shirts that summed up their aesthetic and attitude perfectly: “J’aime drama.”

It comes as no surprise then that Area’s diamond hoop earrings are the must-have accessory of the moment, with bedazzled boots storming the Saint Laurent runway and one shimmering sequin silver dress after another at Paco Rabanne. Jenner, Hadid, Rihanna, and company have all been seen wearing variations of the look out on the streets of Paris at night, and these hoops are the ideal accessory for an already-flashy outfit.

If you’re on board with bedazzling, too, for an icy $300, you can bling from head to toe.
