Bella Hadid Sends a Boldly Romantic Message, Would Make Kim Kardashian Proud
Supermodel Bella Hadid wears her heart on her jeans while galavanting about in Paris.
It’s getting hard to keep track of where in the world Bella Hadid is located. Earlier this week, she was in Dubai, equal parts promo trip for Dior Makeup and skydiving expedition. Then, she was in London, then Paris — or was it Paris, then London? — for a shoot with Karl Lagerfeld, another Dior Makeup event, and general mischief-making. We’re left to decipher based on Instagram clues: Where in the world is Bella Hadid?
While her geographic coordinates might be constantly changing, one thing we can count on for consistency is Hadid’s eye for street-style ensembles (a knack that not ever supermodel possesses). While she surely also has a closet full of Dior and Givenchy back in Calabasas — she’s the face of Dior Makeup, and former Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci was an early supporter of Hadid — she also apparently has a penchant for smaller indie labels.
While kicking back in Paris on Friday, she opted for a red sweatshirt and cropped flare jeans by the Brooklyn indie brand Stickybaby, a one-woman operation purveying retro-inspired designs like heart-appliqué-embellished denim and bombers with slogans like “Still Lost” and “Tired of This” stitched across the back. Hadid opted for a very specific, very romantic message, which some have interpreted as perhaps an envoy to the Weeknd as he embarks on a new relationship with pop star Selena Gomez.
Who: Bella Hadid.
When: Friday, April 21.
Where: Out and about in Paris, France.
What: A red sweatshirt reading “Real Love” and cropped light-wash jeans with broken heart details by the indie brand Stickybaby and Givenchy slides.
Why: We appreciate Hadid’s blend of high — Givenchy slides — and low — a Brooklyn indie label that won’t set you back thousands. Also, if she is trying to make a point, it’s coming across loud and clear. Kim Kardashian, she of the expert fashion subliminal messaging, would be proud.
