Amy Schumer, Back on the Big Screen at Last, Has a Fresh Spring Wardrobe to Match
Actress and comedian Amy Schumer wore a crisp Erdem look for a London screening of her new film Snatched, her first big-screen piece since 2015’s Trainwreck.
Amy Schumer is back on the big screen for the first time since Trainwreck with Snatched, her new mother-daughter comedy with Goldie Hawn and written by Ghostbusters scribe Katie Dippold. Snatched follows Schumer’s character Emily Middleton, recently dumped by her boyfriend, as she sets out on a South American vacation with her mother Linda (Hawn). And not only is it Schumer’s first film since 2015—it’s also Hawn’s first since 2002, when she appeared in The Banger Sisters. Schumer convinced Hawn to take the part after they met on a flight several years ago, telling the Los Angeles Times it took a bit of cajoling to get Hawn on board, but she eventually succeeded.
The on-screen mother-daughter duo have just set out on the road to promote the film, which aptly premieres the Friday before Mother’s Day. On Wednesday evening, they appeared in London at the movie’s latest special screening, which took place at the Soho Hotel—Hawn in a conservative all-black look and Schumer in a springtime-ready Erdem dress.
Who: Amy Schumer.
When: Wednesday, April 26.
Where: A screening of Snatched with Goldie Hawn at the Soho Hotel in London, England.
What: A tea-length black dress by Erdem with tie straps and side cutouts from the Spring 2017 collection, paired with simple black sandals.
Why: First, what’s different from the runway: Schumer swaps out the platform sandals (with silver platforms!) that showed during Erdem’s Spring 2017 show for something a bit simpler. She also leaves behind the wide floppy hat that walked down the catwalk—and though we think that could have been a nice addition for a day on the beach, it seems a sensible choice for the red carpet. Schumer’s look is casual and laid-back (just look at those hands in her pockets—and we love a dress with pockets), just like the actress and comedian herself.
