Björk and Sigur Rós aside, Of Monsters and Men is undeniably one of the biggest Icelandic bands in the game. The five-piece pop ensemble returned to Reykjavik to play a hometown set at the music festival that started it all — and then they came back the next day for an encore show. We gave Of Monsters and Men frontwoman Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir a disposable camera and instructions to show us the festival as she sees it, from the band’s pump-up routine backstage to antics on the shores of the harbor in Reykjavik. (“I’m just supposed to go wild?” she asked when I delivered the camera.) Here’s the result.
