“Since I’m spending so much time in the Rockaways this summer, I’m taking private lessons with Locals Surf School as well as just renting a board and going out to practice on my own. It seems like my ‘work’ uniform is a Cynthia Rowley wetsuit, which is funny because I’m still not that great. But we’re getting there!”

“When it gets too hot by the beach I always grab myself a delicious and refreshing Paleta pop by Fany Gerson of La New Yorkina at The Summer Shift on Beach 96th. Everything is handmade from scratch in small batches, using the best and freshest ingredients with no artificial flavorings or colorings.”

“With a new menu and chef in place, Playland Motel is my go-to spot for $1 oysters and yummy cocktails and food. It’s always cool to be in a space that is so creatively inspired.”

“For the best place to shop, come hang with me at my summer concept pop-up The Notion, on Beach 96th Street next to The Summer Shift. I’ve curated a cool contemporary selection for women including bad-ass surf gear, ready-to-wear, swimwear, accessories and lifestyle goods from designers like Nomia, Miansai, 81Wetsuits, Erin Kleinberg, A Peace Treaty and more.”

“For one of the coolest hangout bars in the area, head to Rockaway Beach Surf Clubs, where you can chill and have a beer outside while watching surf movies. The bar also hosts many great art openings and events, including the 3rd annual New York Women’s Surf Film festival on August 15th! It celebrates the filmmakers and female wave riders who live to surf. It’s exciting to be a part of something so empowering for the ladies.”
