After Going to Outer Space, Chanel Time Travels to Ancient Greece for Cruise 2018
Where do you go after blasting off into space? Time travel. At least, that’s the plan when Karl Lagerfeld is navigating the course. After erecting a life-size rocket ship for Chanel’s Fall 2017 collection, the designer once again transformed the Grand Palais in Paris for the house’s Cruise 2018 show. But instead of traveling deeper into the future, Lagerfeld harkened back to the olden times; specifically, ancient Greece. The space was transformed to resemble an ancient temple, complete with crumbling rock formations and Mediterranean greenery. It all served as the backdrop for a similarly themed collection, which answered the age-old question: “What would Chanel look like in Medieval times?” The answer: gilded tweeds cinched at the waist, shifts in the colors of a dessert sunset, toga-like gowns with gold accents, and plenty of lace-up sandals, all modeled by the likes of Grace Elizabeth, Vittoria Ceretti, Arizona Muse, and Anna Ewers. See all of the details from the collection, here.
