At Vetements Summer Camp, Poolside Means Juicy Couture
It’s hard to believe that Vetements was, just a few years ago, a collective that maintained staunch anonymity: These days, its members’ personal brands are arguably even more responsible for the label’s cult following than its in-your-face designs. And while creative director Demna Gvasalia still shies from social media, his carefully curated coterie — the stylist Lotta Volkova, models like Paul Hameline and Clara Deshayes, and the photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, to name a few — definitely does not. So when the gang took a trip to French chateau this summer, where Gvasalia brought out the Tupac merch and the rest romped around in thigh-high boots, Carlotti documented it all for a nearly 500-page compendium called Vetements Summercamp, the brand’s second release with IDEA books, out on October 3 with a launch at the Comme des Garçons Trading Museum in Paris. See how the spring 2017 collection, including those cherry red Juicy Couture pants, fared in the countryside, here.
